Euro countries call for 50% write-down on Greek debt

Eurozone countries in Brussels on Friday agreed to ask private banks to cancel half the debt owed to them by Greece as part of the second Greek bail-out, AFP reports. They also gave the green light to pay out the sixth tranche, €8 billion, of the first Greek rescue package.

EU Modernisation Fund: an open door for fossil gas in Romania

Among the largest sources of financing for energy transition of central and eastern European countries, the €60bn Modernisation Fund remains far from the public eye. And perhaps that's one reason it is often used for financing fossil gas projects.
