Merkel and Sarkozy want new EU treaty text by March

German Chancellor Merkel and French President Sarkozy will Wednesday send a letter to Brussels outlining their plans for an EU treaty change. These will then be discussed at a EU summit at the end of the week. France and Germany want the final treaty text agreed in March 2012.

EU Modernisation Fund: an open door for fossil gas in Romania

Among the largest sources of financing for energy transition of central and eastern European countries, the €60bn Modernisation Fund remains far from the public eye. And perhaps that's one reason it is often used for financing fossil gas projects.
