Derivatives deal stuck on EU mediation powers

Negotiations between the European Parliament, the EU commission and member states on regulating trading in derivatives broke down on Tuesday, as MEPs demanded a stronger mediation role for the newly created Europeans Securities and Markets Authority. A deal may still be struck in the coming week, EU sources say.
