The month of June saw a record high number of users with 1,020,050 readers to the site and a total of 831,458 articles read. Our average readership has shot up to 34,000 per day from 25,000 unique readers a day, with some highs around the European Summit reaching 45,440 readers ( Friday the 22nd).
These numbers have also been reflected in our advertising campaigns. The Commission's European Business Test Panel advertisement for instance has had 472,734 adviews. The campaign began on 1st of June and ended on the 30th of June. The CTR (Click Trough Rate) of the campaign was 0.16% and was clicked 778 times.
A two month campaign such as the one advertised by Epsilon for the Annual Obesity Conference shows similar results with a higher CTR: 755,110 adviews and a CTR of 0.20%
The impact of advertising on EUobserver remains higher than average industry standards, when adverts are targeted specifically to our EU specialised audience.
Our core readers: EU officials, Academics and Media
Results of our latest bi-annual survey in February included 1200 participants. The results continue to show a strong core of EU and government officials, other media, business and academics.
EUobserver is the largest online newspaper on EU affairs and brings together a community of more than 25,000 unique readers (up to 45,000 this month) every day from all over the world.
Apart from a core readership of EU officials (11%) and national government officials (12%) a substantial amount of EUobserver readers are other media (10% or in other words an estimated 2,500 journalists a day) and academics (14%).
Of our three main group of countries 15% are based in Brussels, 13% in the UK and 12% in the US. Readers include accredited lobbyists, corporate government affairs departments, lawyers, non-governmental organizations, pressure groups, diplomatic corps of EU and non-EU countries and the media.
The rest are evenly spread across Europe.
