Competition law violations by energy firms and member states are undermining EU efforts to boost energy security, the European Commission said on Thursday (16 February), signaling a new crackdown on abusers.
"A segmented approach weakens Europe's position vis-a-vis external suppliers and acts as a severe disincentive to investment," energy commissioner Andris Piebalgs told a gathering of energy CEOs in Brussels.
