EU referendum would fail in Estonia

If Estonia was to have an EU referendum right now it would fail because the number of people who would vote for joining has decreased again last month. According to research firm Emor, 59 per cent of Estonians would reject EU membership and only 41 per cent would give their support.
Estonia is the only enlargement country where more than half of the population is against joining the European Union. Such high euroscepticism is a worrying trend for Estonia's political leaders because EU membership is one of their priorities. However, the support for the government is low at the moment and this is deepening the scepticism.
33 per cent of Latvians are against EU membership. In Lithuania 28 per cent are against membership, in Hungary 15 per cent and in Bulgaria only 7 per cent.
