The EU has recorded a slight boost in employment across its member states - mainly in the services sector - but it is still lagging behind on its ambitious job goals.
Despite a temporary slow down in Europe's economic growth last year, its average jobless rate fell from 9.1 percent to 8.7 percent in 2005 while employment rose to 63.8 percent - a similar boost to 2004.
