A delegation from the Temporary Committee on Echelon, led by its chairman Carlos Coelho, abandoned a visit to Washington as Bush administrations had refused to meet them.
According to the BBC, Carlos Coelho said “they were concerned and dismayed that scheduled meetings in Washington with the Commerce and State Departments had suddenly been cancelled at the last minute”.
