Eurozone annual inflation rose to 2.1 per cent in August from 1.9 per cent in July, breaching the ECB target of 2 per cent. In view of these figures, Commission President Romano Prodi warned about the rise in inflation, stressing that "inflation should be kept under control."
Mr Prodi said that since there is a common currency, a country in the Eurozone needs to be more careful with the rate of inflation, as it risks losing competitiveness.
