ECB bank supervision compromises independence

Making the ECB the sole supervisor of eurozone banks would compromise its independence and create "conflicts of interest" stated Bundesbank board member Andreas Dombret at a conference in Frankfurt on Wednesday. Supervisory powers should be given "to another authority, ...led by a council where banks' home countries are represented".
