Saakashvili admits defeat in Georgian election

Georgia President Mikheil Saakashvili has admitted defeat in Monday’s elections, with opposition leader Bidzina Ivanishvili taking between five and 10 per cent more votes than Saakashvili’s United National Movement, first exit polls show. Because of Georgia's complex voting system, the opposition may not ultimately win a majority in parliament.
