EU ministers reach deal on banking supervision

EU finance ministers early Thursday morning agreed to place eurozone banks with more than €30bn in assets under the so-called single supervisory mechanism (SSM) within the European Central Bank. The deal had been delayed by Germany who insisted that the ECB cannot be held responsible for all 6,200 eurozone banks.
