Ashton to step down from EU post next year

EU foreign service chief Catherine Ashton has said she plans to leave her job when her mandate ends on 1 December 2014. Her spokesman, Michael Mann, told EUobserver she made the announcement at the Brussels Forum, a think-tank event in the EU capital, on Saturday (16 March).
