European banks need €280bn, says auditor

European banks will need €280 billion of extra capital in 2014 to meet reforms aimed at avoiding a repeat of the global financial crisis, according to a report by PricewaterhouseCoopers, one of the four largest auditing companies in the world. The European Central Bank will assess the gap next year.
