UN approves French military action in Central African Republic

The UN Security Council Thursday unanimously agreed to let France expand its military presence from 600 men to 1,200 to protect civilians from sectarian and political clashes in the Central African Republic. The resource-rich country hosts a uranium mine project belonging to French firm Areva, among other European interests.
