The EU has fined pharmaceutical giants Johnson & Johnson and Novartis €16.2 million for colluding to prevent a generic version of the pain-killer Fentanyl going on sale. In a statement Tuesday, Commission antitrust chief Joaquin Almunia said the companies "shockingly deprived patients...from access to a cheaper version of this medicine."
