Scotland approves same-sex marriages

The Scottish Parliament Tuesday voted in favour of allowing same-sex marriages, despite opposition from the church. England and Wales also legalised gay marriage last year. The first country to have done so was the Netherlands, back in 2001. The number of countries approving same-sex marriages has since grown to 17.
