Matteo Renzi nominated as Italian prime minister

Italy on Monday nominated Florence mayor Matteo Renzi to become the next prime minister after the 39-year old ousted Enrico Letta last week. Renzi is party chief of the leftist Democratic Party. Tackling unemployment and a sluggish economy are among his first priorities, he said. Coalition talks begin Tuesday.
