A campaign backed by Ramunas Karbauskis, one of Lithuania's biggest landowners, has forced it to hold a referendum on imposing a permanent ban on land sales to foreigners, Reuters reports. The ban, imposed in 2004, is to expire in May in line with EU law on free movement of capital.
