1,200 asylum seekers land in Sicily

Around 1,200 asylum seekers on Friday landed in Sicily, reports Italian news agency Ansa. The migrants were rescued by the Italian navy off Lampedusa and disembarked in Sicily. Most are said to be from North African countries. The Italian authorities expect many more to arrive over the coming summer months.
