Moscow turns down Conchita Wurst parade

A request by gay activists in Moscow to stage a parade in honor of Eurovision winner Conchita Wurst was turned down on Thursday, reports the Associated Press. The head of Moscow's security department reportedly said the parade would have turned violent given widespread opposition among residents.
