EU competition chief rejects Google break-up plan

EU competition commissioner Joaquin Almunia has rejected a Franco-German idea to break up Google to reduce its dominance in the European web search market. "This idea is not majoritarian," Almunia said, adding that it would require legislation. Almunia is bidding to settle a three-year anti-trust case with Google this year.
