Three former Soviet republics sign EU pacts

Georgia, Moldova, and Ukraine signed EU free trade pacts in Brussels on Friday, locking them out of Russia's Eurasian Union. "Ukraine is underlining its sovereign choice," its president, Poroshenko, said. EU Council chair Van Rompuy called it a "great day for Europe". But Russia said there will be "serious consequences".
