This WEEK in the European Union

This week's meetings by EU environment and finance affairs ministers will seek to adopt a common line on issues to be debated at the forthcoming spring summit of the bloc's leaders.

As usual, the top spring gathering will focus on the economic and social themes, with the European summit from 13 to 14 March to be dominated by the commission's climate change and energy reform blueprints.
