MEPs have approved a railway package, aimed at liberalising international and domestic networks across Europe and broadening the rights of train passengers, in a vote on Wednesday (28 September).
But a high number of national parliaments had found some parts of the package in breach of the subsidiarity principle - the recognized principle to legislate at EU level only when necessary.
The commission's railway proposal was the subject of a pilot project to try out a new instrument...
