With Belarus, Turkey and Ukraine competing for the Athens finals of Saturday's (20 May) Eurovision song contest, some countries on the EU fringe will be keen to showcase their European credentials while others will gladly leave politics behind.
"Let them sing! Let's not be silly about this," one Polish diplomat said. "So long as none of the [Belarusian] politicians on the EU visa ban list show up in Greece, then it's nothing to do with the EU," he quipped.
