German television turn down French TV plans

German television channels ARD and ZDF on Thursday gave the thumbs down to French plans of establishing a new European CNN-like station, reports Der Spiegel.

The two leading German TV stations objected to the plans, which suggested that the new European channel could be partly financed from the same sources as the existing two German channels.
