In a visit to Brussels on Wednesday morning (27 August), the French Prime Minister is set to ask European Commissioners to open up the money chests to help farmers and others in need after this summer’s exceptional drought.
With the French government under pressure for its response to this year’s heat wave Mr Raffarin has already promised farmers organisations the government will pay 500 million euro out of the French coffers to indemnify the farmers from damage done to their crops.
