Polish right party calls for God in Constitution

A reference to God should be placed in the constitutional treaties of the EU, according to the Polish Law and Justice party (PiS). The party urged Polish members of the Convention on the future of the EU to support an inclusion of a reference to Lord, invocatio dei in the future treaties.

"We consider that Europe needs a reliable spirit and moral fundament. Europe’s political unity cannot be built without cultural unity which core is a relationship with God," the PiS party stated. The party believes it follows the thoughts of pope John Paul II. The Law and Justice party is ready to put forward for a parliamentary vote a motion on the subject binding Polish representatives for the Convention.
