Merkel re-elected party chief with record score

German Chancellor Angela Merkel on Tuesday was re-elected chairwoman of the Christian Democratic Union with 97.7 percent of the votes. She said her government was the best Germany have had since reunification and vowed to continue her step by step euro-crisis management that got Germany out of recession.

EU Modernisation Fund: an open door for fossil gas in Romania

Among the largest sources of financing for energy transition of central and eastern European countries, the €60bn Modernisation Fund remains far from the public eye. And perhaps that's one reason it is often used for financing fossil gas projects.

'Swiftly dial back' interest rates, ECB told
