Monti's staff on EU commission payroll

An EU commission spokesman Friday confirmed that Elisabetta Olivi, the spokeswoman of Italian Prime Minister Mario Monti, is a national expert whose salary is being paid for by the EU commission. Another Monti advisor is also on the EU payroll. They both gave "oral reassurances" to respect EU rules.
