Ombudsman clears Draghi on independence issue

EU ombudsman Nikiforos Diamandouros has rejected a complaint that the independence, reputation and integrity of the European Central Bank are undermined by its chief Mario Draghi’s membership of the Group of Thirty. Corporate Europe Observatory, a Brussels-based NGO, had argued that the group is a "lobbying vehicle" for financial interests.
