New euro surveillance rules come into force

Wide-ranging new EU economic surveillance rules come into force Thursday. The rules - known as the two pack and applying only to eurozone states - sets out a common timeline and rules for national budgets. It also allows the commission to reject a budget and demand a revised one.

EU Modernisation Fund: an open door for fossil gas in Romania

Among the largest sources of financing for energy transition of central and eastern European countries, the €60bn Modernisation Fund remains far from the public eye. And perhaps that's one reason it is often used for financing fossil gas projects.
