Ukraine pro-EU protest leader beaten up

A pro-EU leader in Ukraine was assaulted on Friday after leaving a police station in central Kiev, reports British daily The Independent. Andriy Illienko, an MP who had organised demonstrations favouring EU integration, was reportedly beaten by a gang of youths. Sydir Kizin, a lawyer and supporter, was also beaten.

EU still giving gas projects 'fast-track' status

The European Commission published on Friday a list of projects of common interest, which receive preferential treatment. Environmental lobbyists accuse the Commission of trying to fool the public with number games.
