Croatia told to reduce budget deficit by EU

Croatia must halve its budget deficit in three years or face sanctions, the EU stated Tuesday. Croatia's deficit is expected to reach 6.4% this year, double the bloc's 3% stability pact limit. The EU's newest member has been set a 4.6 % target in 2014 and 2.7% for 2016.

EU Modernisation Fund: an open door for fossil gas in Romania

Among the largest sources of financing for energy transition of central and eastern European countries, the €60bn Modernisation Fund remains far from the public eye. And perhaps that's one reason it is often used for financing fossil gas projects.
