MEPs vote to keep levy on private copying

The European Parliament's legal affairs committee on Tuesday agreed to keep a levy on the price of CD recorders and other copy-making devices, arguing that artists cannot be deprived of their rights to fair remuneration for their creations. Authors’ and performers’ organisations welcomed the vote.

EU overcomes divisions on posted workers

After a 12-hour discussion, EU employment ministers struck a compromise to reform the rules on workers posted in another country. The principle of equal pay for equal work has been adopted but the transport sector will get special treatment.
