Merkel party leads in EU election poll

Germany's Christian Democrats led by Chancellor Merkel are set to win the EU elections (40%), an ARD poll shows. The Social Democrats are at 28%, the Greens at 9% and the leftist Linke party at 7%. The anti-euro newcomer AfD is polling at 6%, while the Liberals are at 3%.

Orban's ruling Fidesz party is getting too much to handle for the EPP group, as they are once again forced to defend the Hungarian premier's controversial actions.
