Iceland keeps EU application on the table

Iceland has postponed plans to withdraw its application for EU membership but negotiations are frozen, reports Reuters. Thousands of protesters gathered in spring outside the parliament in Reykjavik, calling on the ruling parties to honour election promises and put the EU issue to a referendum before finally withdrawing the application.
