Italy's Five Star Movement wants to join UKip group

An online referendum held Thursday within Beppe Grillo's Five Star Movement found a majority favours an alliance with UKip in the EP. Out of almost 30,000 voters, over 23,000 said the 17 MEPs should join UKip, 3,500 wanted them to stay non-affiliated and 2,900 to join the anti-federalist ECR.

Among the largest sources of financing for energy transition of central and eastern European countries, the €60bn Modernisation Fund remains far from the public eye. And perhaps that's one reason it is often used for financing fossil gas projects.

Italian central banker Piero Cipollone in his first monetary policy speech since joining the ECB's board in November, said that the bank should be ready to "swiftly dial back our restrictive monetary policy stance."
