UK nominates House of Lords man for EU post

British PM Cameron Tuesday nominated Lord Hill, speaker of the British upper house, as his candidate for the UK's EU commissioner. Hill is a former corporate lobbyist and education minister, who got involved in EU talks on the Maastricht treaty, but who has a low profile outside London political circles.

EU Modernisation Fund: an open door for fossil gas in Romania

Among the largest sources of financing for energy transition of central and eastern European countries, the €60bn Modernisation Fund remains far from the public eye. And perhaps that's one reason it is often used for financing fossil gas projects.
