Obama wants better intelligence cooperation with Germany

US president Barack Obama wants to improve intelligence cooperation with Germany following allegations of American-led espionage. The White House on Tuesday said Obama had spoken to German chancellor Angela Merkel on the phone and "exchanged views on US-German intelligence cooperation." Germany says the US is recruiting spies within its government.
