EU set to announce weakened 2030 energy savings target

European Commissioners are set to meet on Wednesday to agree on an EU-wide energy savings target for 2030. The commission had initially proposed 40% energy efficiency target for 2030 but is set to announce a weaker target amid concerns over the security of Russian gas supplies, reports the BBC.
