Ukraine to hold parliament elections on 26 October

Ukraine president Poroshenko said Monday he plans to hold parliamentary elections on 26 October despite the ongoing conflict in east Ukraine. The vote is designed to sweep away MPs dating from the pre-revolutionary period of former leader Yanukovych. Poroshenko also promised to ratify an EU free trade deal in mid-September.
