Cameron statement at EU summit could trigger exit clause

An EU official has told the Reuters news agency that British PM Cameron could trigger article 50 on the UK’s exit from the EU by a verbal statement at next week’s summit. “’Triggering' ... could either be a letter to the president of the European Council or an official statement at a meeting of the European Council duly noted in the official records of the meeting," the official said.
