Italians and Dutch ask to share UN security seat

Italy and the Netherlands have asked to share a seat at the UN Security Council, after the General Assembly was deadlocked over which to choose. The council has 10 non-permanent members, each chosen for a two-year spell, in addition to its five permanent members. Italian Foreign Minister Paolo Gentiloni said sharing the seat could "send a message of unity between two European countries" in the wake of the Brexit vote.
