EU opens new accession chapter with Turkey

The EU has opened a new negotiating chapter with Turkey on finance and budgetary affairs, a move that was agreed in the migration deal earlier this year. Turkey launched its membership application in 2005, and since then the EU has opened 15 chapters out of the 35 needed to be agreed to join the bloc. Just one has been completed so far.

EU Modernisation Fund: an open door for fossil gas in Romania

Among the largest sources of financing for energy transition of central and eastern European countries, the €60bn Modernisation Fund remains far from the public eye. And perhaps that's one reason it is often used for financing fossil gas projects.
