EU divides up 1,500 border guards for new agency
The EU border agency Frontex will have a pool of 1,500 border and coast guards, according to a proposal to make it bigger after the creation of the new corps. Germany will contribute 225 guards, followed by France (170), and Italy (125). Malta will contribute the fewest with six, while Cyprus and Luxembourg will provide eight each, the EU said Monday. The UK is not part of the scheme.
