Former EU commission chief Barroso joins Goldman Sachs
Former European Commission president Jose Manuel Barroso was on Friday appointed non-executive chairman and advisor of the US investment bank Goldman Sachs. Barroso was commission chief from 2004 to 2014. Former commissioners are not allowed to lobby or defend a company's interest to the commission some 18 months after leaving office. Barroso joined Goldman Sachs twenty months after he left office.
