UN envoy 'concerned' by impact of Turkey events on Cyprus reunification

Espen Barth Eide, the UN envoy to help negotiate Cyprus reunification, is worried the fallout in Turkey following a failed coup attempt could affect a future peace deal, he said Thursday at a press conference with Cyprus president Nicos Anastasiades. But he also said there is no evidence yet to suggest that Turkey would shift its position in an effort to reach an agreement. Cyprus was split in 1974.
