Guterres slated for UN secretary-general
Portugal's former prime minister Antonio Guterres is the front runner to become the next secretary general of the United Nations, reports Reuters. The news wire had seen the results of a UN security council secret ballot. Ban Ki-moon, the current secretary-general, steps down at the end of 2016 after two five-year terms. Other contenders for the post include Slovenia's former president Danilo Turk and Bulgaria's Irina Bokova who heads Unesco.
